Wayland XC Festival Details

XC Parents-

Sunday's meet should be a lot of fun. It is a well-run event on a real cross country course.

I am attaching again the entry form, which has the details about the race. You can also check out the website, waylandxc.com.

The first race, at 9 am, is the 10 and under race, with boys and girls running together. The girls 11-14 race is at 9:30 and the boys 11-14 race is at 10 am.

Cari and I are planning to arrive by 8 am to pick up the team's bib numbers and to walk the course. I think it is always a good idea to walk an XC course first, even if you're not planning on leading the race. After the first race starts, it gets to be difficult to walk the course, as you have to stay out of the way of the runners. Google says that it takes about 1:20 to get to Wayland high school.

If you arrive after 8:10 or 8:15, we are probably going to be out walking the course. I would suggest just trying to find us, or you can walk it on your own. If you arrive past the point where you can walk the course, Cari and I will explain the course to your athlete the best we can. I'll send an email to the group after we arrive to advise where we are handing out bibs.

I am encouraging the kids in the earlier race to stick around to cheer on their teammates in the 9:30 and 10:00 races.

Be sure to bring a full quart of water. It looks to be a bit warm on Sunday, although it should be fine running weather in the morning.
