Welcome to Track

Dear 2019 Track and Field Parents-

Before I begin, I'd like to encourage you to run or walk the 1st Annual Sir LanceBot RoboRun 5K Run and 2K Walk to benefit Longmeadow Robotics on March 31 at 8:30 am. The race is at LHS and registration is at Longmetal.org. It's a great chance to shake off the rust before our season begins.

Volunteer Commitment and Website

When you signed your child up for track, you agreed to be a timer (or do a similar job) at one of our meets this spring. We will be having six meets on Saturdays 9-11 am, beginning with the first meet on April 6. The calendar and all the information you need, including copies of the emails you will receive over the course of he season, will be at our website: longmeadowtrack.org. Before each meet, you will need to go to the website to sign up your child for the events he/she would like to do. It takes about one minute, but it is absolutely essential for our meets to run smoothly.

Uniform Pick-Up and Meet Your Coaches April 2

Our first meeting is Tuesday, April 2 at 5pm at the Community House because we do not have access to the track that day. You will receive uniforms at this practice and the kids will meet with their coaches to set goals for the season.

Parents Meeting March 28

We will be having a meeting with parents on March 28 at 7pm at the Community House . The purpose of the meeting is to explain what we will be asking you to do at the meets, to describe briefly the program, and to answer any questions. I promise the meeting will be short and to the point—we will be done in 30 minutes.

You do not need to have any knowledge of track and field to be a timer. This meeting is not mandatory but it would be very helpful for you to attend, especially if you are new to the program.
