Track parents and guardians:

1.  Reminder that practice all week is at the LHS track. Keep in mind that Longmeadow high school gives us no notice about when we get bumped by other sports–we have to consult the high school sports calendar, which can change from time to time. We are getting to playoff season and the changes to their calendar can happen quickly. While I will be monitoring their calendar, this is not a foolproof system, so if you go to the track and see a lacrosse game happening, everyone should shift over to Blueberry Hill.

2. Great meet on Saturday for both elementary and middle school. We will be hosting Amherst Middle School again in two weeks. Results are posted on longmeadowtrack.org. You will see that there are no long jump results. There were some inconsistencies in how we measured the jumps to the point we did not have confidence in the results. As a result, we did not input those results into athletic.net. I am attaching the handwritten field event sheets for long jump for what they may be worth to folks.

Big ups to all our volunteers who helped with the meet in the absence of our regular teen coaches. It takes a village to run a youth track program.

3.  We will be having our annual Memorial Day XC races on Saturday, May 24 at the Wolf Swamp fields.  The new fields include a cinder walking/running path that we advocated for (and got!).

8:30 am for grades 1-5 (1K distance), 8:45 am for grades 6-8 (2K distance).  Grades 4-5 can run at the 2K distance if they choose. Parents and siblings are welcome to run.  We do these cross country races Memorial Day weekend because our numbers are lower due to folks being away during the long weekend.

NO advance sign-up this week via athletic.net.  Program athletes just show up with your bib number. Parents and siblings show up and sign the waiver. Easy-peasy and we will probably be done with both races in 30-40 minutes.

Coach Alex
