Track parents-
1. Our first practice for the Monday/Wednesday groups will be Monday, March 30 at the Longmeadow High School track. Tuesday/Thursday groups will begin on Tuesday, March 31. The link to the training group assignments is on the home page of longmeadowtrack.org. If you have not signed up for a training group yet, please do so through the link, which is also on the longmeadowtrack.org home page.
2. We will have uniform distribution at practice this week. Big ups to Katherine Brower and Jamie Rinaldi for preparing all the uniform packets! Please note that we were short on a few sizes--those will be given out in a couple of weeks if your packet does not include a T-shirt and singlet.
3. We will be having our first meet of the season on Saturday, April 4, starting at 8:30 am. We'll be doing it in waves, with Grades 1-3 first, then Grades 4-5, then Grades 6-8. More details about the meet logistics will be sent later in the week.
4. Registration for the meet is on athletic.net and closes Thursday, April 2 at 7 pm. If you do not sign up, your child can still run the meet, but we won't be able to record your results and your child won't figure into the scoring.
The meet is called "Longmeadow Youth Meet 04 04 26." The longmeadowtrack.org website on the Info Sheet page has a link to an article on athletic.net explaining how to sign up an individual for a track meet.
In 2022, I also recorded my own video (link on the Info Sheet on longmeadowtrack.org) showing you step-by-step how to sign up for a Longmeadow meet on athletic.net. As I explain, you can sign up even if your athlete is unattached, i.e., you have not linked your athlete with the Longmeadow Parks & Rec team code. It appears that some folks are having trouble attaching their child to the team on athletic.net. There is another video link on the website on how to do that, but if you cannot manage it, it’s perfectly fine for athletic.net purposes to be “unattached.”
Finally, if you do not go to the step of selecting events, your child will be listed as “not registered.” The step-by-step video I recorded in 2022 addresses this precise point, so I encourage you to consult it.
If you have not already created an athletic.net account, there is a link on the website for an article explaining how to do that.
Any other athletic.net issues, please click on their "Get Help" button.
5. If you have any questions during the season, longmeadowtrack.org has everything you need. Check out the Info Sheet and the season calendar. The March 16 parent informational meeting was recorded--link to the meeting is on the website. If you have a question, there is a nearly 100% chance that the information you need will be on the website, including prior emails that have been sent to the program. Please go there first and if you still have a question, go ahead and email me.
